lit circless 7
This week, we read the last section of our book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Alexa was not in class today so Danny and I enjoyed a back and forth conversation. The end of the book was very exciting, and we both enjoyed it. I posed the question "Will Christopher be able to get along with his dad again in Swindon?" Danny thought that Christopher would forgive his dad, but i said that Christopher remembers everything and that he will always remember that he killed Wellington and kept the fact that his mom was alive from him. I also posed the question "Will Mr. and Mrs. Boone get back together?" Danny thought that they would again, but I said no, because if Christopher and his dad cant get along, he would never allow them to live together. We then discussed each character in the book. We both agreed that Christopher was very interesting, but disagreed on Mrs. Shears. Danny thought that she was not a nice person, but I pointed out that she had not pressed charges on Mr. Boone and that was nice because he was under a considerable deal of stress. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

lit circles 6
This week, we read the sixth section of our book and Alexa was the scribe. Danny asked "Why did Christopher stay in the luggage department?" I responded that he felt safe in quiet places, and that noone would really notice him for a while. I also said that this was a bad idea because he wouldnt know what stop to get off at. Danny then posed the question "Why isnt Christopher happy to see his mom?" I responded that it is a autistic trait to not express feelings. I then asked "Why does Christopher hold the knife even if he knows that it is illegal?" Alexa responded that it made himi feel safe and Danny added that he would onlt use it in self-defence. Alexa then inquired "Why is Christopher scared of Mr. Shears?" I responded that he probably thinks of Mr. Shears as a stranger and he might treat him like he treats Mrs. Alexander. As we approach the end of the book, the group is getting very excited for the ending.
